Info Post

"Mahabharatha" being the largest poem in human history talks about everything under the earth and beyond. It brings out the highest philosophy of the Upanishads through simple dialects and stories. Apart from science it speaks in volumes about politics, geography, management science, mathematics, fine arts, etc etc. In modern history great scholars, historians and scientists have envisaged the different dimensions of this incredible epic. In this little effort of mine I had only touched upon the areas mostly confined to science, metaphysics etc. This article is a combination of information gained from various books/websites and my own perceptions on the various events of Mahabharatha. I thank to all those who have indirectly helped me in this task. This is only an attempt by a very ordinary person to understand a great epic in a different dimension. I will keep this updated.

Your comments and suggestion are most welcome. Please keep commenting which helps me to write more about this subject.

Perceiving Mahabharatha

When we read the verbatical translation of Mahabharatha from the present context it may look absurd. Imagine you teach an indigenous tribal person from central Africa not aware of the outward world and you are supposed to teach him how a television works !! How will you explain it ? You don’t go into depth. You just tell him the basics of do's and do nots. You cant go beyond because its impossible for him to perceive. After the war of Mahabaratha, there was total destruction. So the next generation never possessed the knowledge to understand the technical stuff. For instance, bows and arrows are ordinary things that any lay man can understand those days which was substituted for advanced launchers. Likewise chariot's driven by horses substituted for advanced heavily armoured vehicles. Sanskrit grammarians and meta physical researchers say our vedas, upanishads and epics are written in such a way, it could give different interpretations based on the level of your intelligence. Vyasa might have encoded the technical stuff, which was far advanced to that generation and might have given an outward meaning to it (which was understandable to that generation). These poems are memorised and dutyfully passed to the next generation so that future generations advancing in science could one day decode it.

The descriptions of various technologies in mahabharatha cannot be dismissed as a scientific fiction. I beleive the inter-linked and inter-dependent stories of various personalities, groups and kingdoms and the philosophical height it has touched are all impossible to imagine. Moreover the indepth description it provides is a clear sign of history rather than mythology. (take for instance the bhisma pharva VI which describes rivers, mountains, plains, people, cultures etc). Mahabhratha times comprised of an ancient civilization influenced by hundreds of Alien's (Devas or demigods) who dominate the war. These Alien's are so powerful with their celestial and hi-tech weapons kill thousands of people in no time. Also these alien's are biologically very strong enough to withstand heavier weapons which is not humanly possible. None of these aliens are ordinary human beings as they derive their genetic codes from superhumans or Aliens. For Instance Dhritarashtra - king of the Gandharvas, Pandu - from wind god,Yudhishtira - Yama, Duryodhana - Kali purush, Sakuni - Dwapara, Sikkandin, Dussasana & other brothers - Rakshasas, Bhimasena - Wind god, Arjuna - ancient rishi Nara (also son of Indra), Nakula & Sahadeva - Aswins, Karna - One portion of sun, Abhimanyu - Moon, Dhrishtadyumna & Draupadi - auspicious portion of fire, Drona - portion of Vrihaspati, Ashwathama - Portion of Rudra, Bhishma - One of the Vasus (Son of ganga). We could observe that these great aliens who were biologically stronger and possessing incredible celestial weapons were almost indestructible. While ordinary humans belonging to this planet fell in innumerable numbers during the war.

Time of Mahabharatha

The mahabharatha war took place arount 5150 years before. (Kaliyuga started at 3102 BC based on Aryabhata’s Surya Siddhanta theory) Assuming that Mahabharata battle occurred a few decades before, I had rounded it to 5150.

The Bhishma Parva and Udyoga Parva of Mahabharatha provides considerable astronomical/astrological descriptions and omens that the Mahabharata war was approaching. It also describes during the period of war different planetary positions. The planetory position during the war with Jayadhradha also reveals a day closer to this as per Researhers.

Are there any material evidence supporting the time of Mahabharatha ?

In Kurukshetra, the scene of the great Mahabharata war, Iron arrows and spearheads have been excavated and dated by thermoluminence to 2,800 B.C.E., the approximate date of the war given within the Mahabharata itself.

The Mahabharata also describes three cities given to the Pandavas, the heroes of the Mahabharata, after their exile: Paniprastha, Sonaprastha & Indraprastha, which is Delhi's Puranaqila. These sites have been identified and yielded pottery & antiquities, which show a cultural consistency & dating consistent for the Mahabharata period, again verifying statements recorded in the Vedic literatures.

Marine archaeology has also been utilized in India off the coast of the ancient port city of Dvaraka in Gujarat, uncovering further evidence in support of statements in the Vedic scriptures. An entire submerged city at Dvaraka, the ancient port city of Lord Krishna with its massive fort walls, piers, warfs and jetty has been found in the ocean as described in the Mahabharata and other Vedic literatures.

This sanskrit verse from the Mausala Parva 7 verse 40 of the Mahabharata, describes the disappearance of the city of Dvaraka into the sea.
"After all the people had set out, the ocean flooded Dvaraka, which still teemed with wealth of every kind. Whatever portion of land was passed over, the ocean immediately flooded over with its waters."

Dr. S. R. Rao, formerly of the Archaeological Survey of India, has pioneered marine archaeology in India. Marine archaeological findings seem to corroborate descriptions in the Mahabharata of Dvaraka as a large, well-fortified and prosperous port city, which was built on land reclaimed from the sea, and later taken back by the sea.

Among the extensive underwater discoveries were the massive Dvaraka city wall, a large door-socket and a bastion from the fort wall. Two rock-cut slipways of varying width, extending from the beach to the intertidal zone, a natural harbor, as well as a number of olden stone ship anchors were discovered, attesting to Dvaraka being an ancient port city. The three headed motif on this conch-shell seal, found in the Dvaraka excavations, corroborates the reference in the scripture Harivamsa that every citizen of Dvaraka should carry a mudra or seal of this type.
Justify Full
Apart from Dvaraka, more than thirty-five sites in North India have yielded archaeological evidence and have been identified as ancient cities described in the Mahabharata. Copper utensils, iron, seals, gold & silver ornaments, terracotta discs and painted grey ware pottery have all been found in these sites. Scientific dating of these artifacts corresponds to the non-aryan-invasion model of Indian antiquity Moreover we should acknowledge that India unlike Turkey and Greece was continuously and densely inhabitated for thousands of years. Archeological surveys are very difficult to be conducted. When the europeans with their advanced and hi-tech equipments are unable to escavate the city of Atlantis in southern Spain (that too being an unused baren land) due to water pressure and other constraints !! imagine the case of the densely populated India. May be in future with advanced technologies we could bring to light more evidences from these densely populated areas.

Weapons of Mahabharatha

The weapons of mahabharatha I believe should have been provided by the Aliens, as their production requires large scale industrial infrastructure involving complex technology and development. Most of the gods and demigods described in Mahabharatha are in one way Aliens who are far more advanced in science than us. Aliens provided the asthras and the manthras or passwords to Invoke it. Before launching the asthras the invoker chants a manthra with utmost concentration. This may be some sort of telepathic communication to the provider of the weapon (Alien) or his control unit. This inturn results in a remote method invocation (as we use in softwares). Then the asthra is navigated and controlled from distant planets or galaxies.

Some asthras comes back to the person who launches it. Eg.Karna's nagaasthara and Krishna's Sudharsana chakra. This may be like the reusable missiles which ISRO is working on.

What about practical control issues? How can the astra be controlled from an extreme distance if the controller has no idea where it's going and what it's doing? Its simple, as we have GPS mapping for the world, there may a mapping for our entire galaxy (milky way). The person through telepathy uses the manthra (password) logs in and then communicates the object to be reached to the controller and it takes control. All missiles are not like that. Most of the missiles are aim and shoot and depends on the precision of the warrior. Some travel very long distance and that's possible only if some sort of navigational system prevails. The technology might have been much more advanced that even an inbuilt navigational system was available within the missiles. There may also be an biological address (as like an IP address in pc) for each living being which may be far advanced for us to perceive.

World's First Atomic Bomb

Mr.Oppenheimer, who was the architect of modern atomic bomb and in charge of the manhattan project was asked by a student after the manhattan explosion, "How do you feel after having exploded the first atomic bomb on earth". Oppenheimer's reply for the question was , "not first atomic bomb, but first atomic bomb in modern times". He strongly believed that nukes were used in ancient india. How can one explain the death of 14 billion people in 18 days!!! Its hard to digest the fact that current world population is 6 billions!! Mahabharatha war was definitely a world war as defence forces from kingdoms across the world were involved. But what
made oppenheimer believe that it was a nuclear war was the accurate descriptions of the weapons used in the mahabharatha war in the epic which match with that of modern nuclear weapons. Also, excavations of Mohen Jo Daro in North India revealed towns which had been completely destroyed quite unexpectedly!! There were no traces of natural disasters or wars! Scientists Davneport and Vincenti put forward a theory saying the ruins were of a nuclear blast as they found big stratums of clay and green glass. High temperature melted clay and sand and they hardened immediately afterwards. Similar stratums of green glass can also found in Nevada deserts after every nuclear explosion. When excavations of Harappa and Mohenjo-Daro reached the street level, they discovered skeletons scattered about the cities, many holding hands and sprawling in the streets as if some instant, horrible doom had taken place. People were just lying, unburied, in the streets of the city. And these skeletons are thousands of years old, even by traditional archaeological standards. What could cause such a thing? Why did the bodies not decay or get eaten by wild animals? Furthermore, there is no apparent cause of a physically violent death.

These skeletons are among the most radioactive ever found, on par with those at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. At one site, Soviet scholars found a skeleton which had a radioactive level 50 times greater than normal. Other cities have been found in northern India that show indications of explosions of great magnitude. One such city, found between the Ganges and the mountains of Rajmahal, seems to have been subjected to intense heat. Huge masses of walls and foundations of the ancient city are fused together, literally vitrified! And since there is no indication of a volcanic eruption at Mohenjo-Daro or at the other cities, the intense heat to melt clay vessels can only be explained by an atomic blast or some other unknown weapon. The cities were wiped out entirely. While the skeletons have been carbon-dated to 2500 BC, we must keep in mind that carbon-dating involves measuring the amount of radiation left. When atomic explosions are involved, that makes then seem much younger.

Weapons of Mass Destruction.

Musala Parva of the Mahabharatha talks about the Weapons of Mass Destruction.
"Flying a swift and powerful vimana (fast aircraft) hurled a single projectile Charged with all the power of the Universe. An incandescent column of smoke and flame as bright as ten thousand Suns rose in all its splendor....it was an unknown weapon, an iron thunderbolt, a gigantic messenger of death, Which reduced to ashes. The Entire race of the Vrishnis and thr Andhakas....the corpses were so burned as to be unrecognizable. Their hair and nails fell out, pottery broke without apparent cause and the birds turned white. After a few hours all foodstuffs were infected. To escape from this fire, the soldiers threw themselves in streams to wash themselves and their equipment"

Containing a nuclear bomb

During the war of Mahabharatha weapons similar to modern day nuclear bomb were not only used but also neutralised. There were technology to rapidly neutralise the power of nuclear spread. The following is description on the encounter between Ashwathama and Arjuna. Ashwathama's uses brahmasthira by inspiring a blade of grass with proper mantras and converts it into that powerful celestial weapon. A fire then was born in that blade of grass, which seemed capable of consuming the worlds.

Arjuna immediately uses a weapon to neutralise it blazed up with fierce flames like the all-destroying fire that appears at the end of the yuga (world). Similarly, the weapon that had been shot by Ashwathama blazed up with terrible flames within a huge sphere of fire. Numerous peals of thunder were heard; thousands of meteors fell; and all living creatures became inspired with great dread. The whole world seemed to be filled with noise and assumed a terrible aspect with those flames of fire. The whole earth with her mountains and waters and trees, trembled.

In the words of rishi (enlightened Saint) Vyasa,
"The region where the weapon called brahmashira is baffled by another high weapon suffers a drought for twelve years, for the clouds do not pour a drop of water there for this period".

We know how Japan witnessed (last century) this in Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Bows & Chariots - Advanced launchers & Heavy armoured vehicles

In Mahabharatha "bows" are very clearly used as substitution for advanced launchers. This could be clearly understood from the prominence they give for those bows received from Aliens. For instance Arjunas "Kandiva", Karna's "Vijaya", Krishna's "Saranga" are all extremely powerful launchers. Karna's description to Duryodhana while preparing for the war is a fine example.

"My bow, called Vijaya, is the foremost of all weapons (of its kind). Desirous of doing what was agreeable (to Indra), it was made by Vishavakarman (the celestial architect and chief engineer) for Indra. With that bow, O king, Indra had vanquished the Daityas. At its twang the Daityas beheld the ten points to be empty. That bow, respected by all, Sakra gave to Bhrigu's son (Rama). That celestial and foremost of bows Bhrigu's son gave to me. With that bow I will contend in battle with the mighty-armed Arjuna, that foremost of victorious warriors, like Indra fighting with the assembled Daityas. That formidable bow, the gift of Rama, is superior to Gandiva. It was with that bow that the Earth was subjugated thrice seven times (by Bhrigu's son). With that bow given to me by Rama I will contend in battle with the son of Pandu....His is that celestial and foremost of bows, called Gandiva, which is irrefragible in battle. I also have that excellent, celestial, and formidable bow called Vijaya. In respect of our bows, therefore, O king, I am superior to Arjuna"

Likewise "chariot's" and "cars" are substituted for "heavy armoured fighting vehicles" which were provided by the Aliens. For instance Arjuna receives his vehicle from Indra as Arjuna was impressed by its first appearance itself as described below.

"the car endued with great effulgence and guided by Matali, came dividing the clouds and illuminating the firmament and filling the entire welkin with its rattle deep as the roar of mighty masses of clouds. Swords, and missiles of terrible forms and maces of frightful description, and winged darts of celestials splendour and lightnings of the brightest effulgence, and thunderbolts, and propellors furnished with wheels and worked with atmosphere expansion and producing sounds loud as the roar of great masses of clouds, were on that car"

Brahmasthra - The incredible weapon

This powerful form of weapon is used by great warriors at many stages of war. This weapon is invoked by mantras where an object like bows or even a blade of grass can be transformed into a mighty brahmasthira. Brahmasthra or Brahmashira which I believe may be of different varieties based on capacity of the launcher and the type of manthra by itself. For instance Karna uses brahmasthra which was baffled by Arjuna belong to less powerful category.

KARNA PARVA 91,
Karna, invoking the brahmastra, "showered his shafts upon Dhananjaya, and once more made an effort to extricate his car. Partha also, by the aid of the brahmastra, poured arrowy downpours upon Karna".

While the one used by Ashwathama and baffled by Arjuna belongs to a highly powerful variety. Where the total atmosphere trembles and ved vyas and sage Narada appear immediately for mediation.

We can understand the differnce from the description itself. The mighty Pasuputa asthra given by Shiva to Arjuna also belongs to a variety of Brhamasthira.
"Arjuna said, 'O illustrious god having the bull for thy sign, if thou wilt grant me my desire, I ask of thee, O lord that fierce celestial weapon wielded by thee and called Brahmasira--that weapon of terrific prowess which destroyeth, at the end of the Yuga the entire universe--
Shiva replied, 'O powerful one. I will give to thee that favourite weapon of mine called the Pasuputa. O son of Pandu, thou art capable of holding, hurling, and withdrawing it. Neither the chief himself of the gods, nor Yama, nor the king of the Yakshas, nor Varuna, nor Vayu, knoweth it. How could men know anything of it? But, O son of Pritha, this weapon should not be hurled without adequate cause;"

Varunasthara - Artificial Rain.

When I was reading about the Asthras, Varunastra came to my special attention.

Its mentioned in the Mahabharatha like this "when a warrior discharges a varunastra which is made of such materials, whose smoke is converted into a cloud. The moment it comes in contact with air it converts the cloud to rain".

It very closely resembles our modern science of Artificial Rain, where chemicals like ammonium nitrate are used to rise and form rain clouds, then the density of the clouds are increased and finally a jet of rain-making chemicals is shot directly into the clouds.

But I think Varunasthra is much more advanced, it combines all the three process involved in one shot. Moreover I think its not a weapon of its own, but should be used as a counter weapon for Agniastra (weapon inducing fire). Because you cannot destroy people with rain. It is also quiet evident that the battlefield should be spread in miles to use such kind of weapons.

Vayavyastra - Artificial wind

This weapon creates artificial wind. Normally used to disperse clouds formed by the Varunasthara.

Use of Aircrafts

The Vaimaanika shasthra of Maharishi Bharadhwaja gives description of aircrafts that are much more advanced than our present generational aircrafts. Since here we discuss only about Mahabharatha, I dont want to go deep into that.

According to the Dronaparva, Vimanas are described as shaped like a sphere and can move along at great speed on a mighty wind generated by mercury. It says the vimana moved like a UFO, going up, down, backwards and forwards as the pilot desired.

Section XLIII of Vana Parva describes about Arjuna's arival at the city of Indra "Amaravati"

"And having beheld those celestial gardens resounding with celestial music, the strong-armed son of Pandu entered the favourite city of Indra. And he beheld there celestial vimanas by thousands, capable of going everywhere at will, stationed in proper places. And he saw tens of thousands of such cars moving in every direction"..... This throws light on the city "Amaravati" and its advanced cars".

Also in section CLXV of VANA PARVA mentions about aircrafts

"And from all sides in vimanas resplendent as the sun, hosts of Gandharvas and Apsaras began to follow that represser of foes, the lord of the celestials. And ascending a vimana yoked with steeds, decorated with burnished gold, and roaring like clouds, that king of the celestials, Purandara blazing in beauty came unto the Parthas. And having arrived (at that place), he of a thousand eyes descended from his vimana".

Also when Arjuna being dropped by Shiva's space ship at section CLXIV and "Matali" being the driver.
"And it came to pass that once a day as those mighty charioteers were thinking of Arjuna, seeing Mahendra's vimana, yoked with horses of the effulgence of lightning, arrive all on a sudden, they were delighted. And driven by Matali, that blazing vimana, suddenly illuminating the sky, looked like smokeless flaming tongues of fire, or a mighty meteor embosomed in clouds and seeing before them that vimana driving in which the slayer of Namuchi had annihilated seven phalanxes of Diti's offspring, the magnanimous Parthas went round it. And being highly pleased, they offered excellent worship unto Matali, as unto the lord of the celestials himself. And then the son of the Kuru king duly enquired of him after the health of all the gods. And Matali also greeted them. And having instructed the Parthas even as a father doth his sons, he ascended that incomparable vimana, and returned to the lord of the celestials".

The horses being mentioned is only a substitution for engine's or similar advanced technologies. The mentioning of "smokeless flaming tongues of fire" could be clearly perceived as an eco-friendly jet engine's emision.

Medical Science in Mahabharata

Abhimanyu, A warrior in the womb

In Mahabharatha, when Subhadra was pregnant, Arjun (there is one version saying its krishna, somebody can start a thread on this) told her the secret of entering the chakravyuh. When he was explaining the exit procedure, Subhadra fell asleep. Hence Abhimanyu learned the entrance procedure while he was in Subhadra's womb and he never had the chance to learn the exit strategy.

There was a time when people criticized this concept of a child learning from the womb of a mother. But further scientific developments have made things very clear and modern science says that it is very much possible.

In his book "Right Brain Education in Infancy" by Dr. Makoto Shichida, world-renowned founder of over 350 Child Academies in Japan says, the right brain is active during gestation. Furthermore, the imaging right brain is the center for extra sensory perception, or ESP.

He further adds cells are sensitive and can transmit subtle energy patterns to the brain, a child has extra sensory perception in the womb. The unborn baby uses the cells of his developing body to gain information from the world around him, which is transmitted to his right brain hemisphere.

Unless there is interference, the right brain hemisphere is capable of putting extra sensory impressions on the screen of the mind, which is how it got the name image brain. Young children are highly receptive when it comes to extra sensory impressions because the left brain is not dominant in children up until the age of six or seven.

Dr. Shichida found that young children can be easily trained in ESP and that babies in the womb have ESP. He believes this is because the fetal right brain hemisphere is active while the left brain hemisphere is dormant.

The existence of Bacteria and Viruses

The existence of bacteria and viruses are explained in the following text from the Mahabharata Santi Parva Section XV

I also feel it advocates the Darvin's theory "Survival of the fittest"

Arjun said:
"I do not behold the creature in this world that supports life without doing any act of injury to others. Animals live upon animals, the stronger upon the weaker. The mongooose devours mice; the cat devours the mongoose; the dog devours the cat; the dog is again devoured by the spotted leopard. Behold all things again are devoured by the Destroyer when he comes. This mobile and immobile universe is food for living creatures. This has been ordained by the gods. The very ascetics cannot support their lives without killing creatures. In water, on earth, and fruits, there are innumerable creatures. It is not true that one does not slaughter them. What higher duty is there than supporting one's life? There are many creatures that are so minute that their existence can only be inferred. With the falling of the the eyelids alone, they are destroyed"

Embryo development and Artificial Fertilization

Mostly people are aware that the Mahabharata states of an embryo being divided into one hundred parts each becoming, after maturation in a separate pot, a healthy baby and this results in the birth of the Gauravas.

There is also mention of an embryo, conceived in one womb, being transferred to the womb of another woman from where it is born. The transferred embryo is Balarama and this is how he is a brother to Krishna although he was born to Rohini and not to Devaki.

In the case of Kunti conceiving by chanting manthras through yogic trans, there is fertilization (the process involving a sperm fusing with an ovum) but without physical Intercourse. May be the manthra acting like a password invokes the object of Meditation (Indra, Vayu Etc) to transmit its chromosomes to the meditator (using her biological address). A very advanced form of Artificial Fertilization.

Advanced Plastic Surgery or an Alien Bio shield

Karna the son of Surya (sun god) is born with a shield that protects him from weapons. It may be a biological shield similar to Exoskeleton found in tortoise but incredibly strong. Unlike artficial Exoskeleton used by humans, Karna's kavach was blended with his body which may be an Alien biological implantation or modification.

Sexual orgasm

In a conversation between Yudhishtra and Bhisma, Yudhishtra asks the following question in
[ANUSASANA PARVA PART I section XII]

"Yudhishthira said, 'It behoveth, O king to tell me truly which of the two viz., man or woman derives the greater pleasure from an act of union with each other. Kindly resolve my doubt in this respect."
Bhishma while replying his questions explains a story where a king transformed into a women later given an option to again opt for whichever sex he/she likes opts to remain as women with the following explanation for it.
"The lady said, 'I desire to remain a woman, O Sakra. In fact,--do not wish to be restored to the status of manhood, O Vasava.--Hearing this answer, Indra once more asked her, saying,--Why is it, O puissant one, that abandoning the status of manhood thou wishest that of womanhood? Questioned thus, that foremost of monarchs transformed into a woman answered, 'In acts of congress, the pleasure that women enjoy is always much greater than what is enjoyed by men. It is for this reason, O Sakra, that I desire to continue a woman; O foremost of the deities, truly do I say unto thee that I derive greater pleasure in my present status of womanhood. I am quite content with this status of womanhood that I now have. Do thou leave me now, O lord of heaven.--Hearing these words of hers, the lord of the celestials answered,--So be it,--and bidding her farewell, proceeded to heaven. Thus, O monarch, it is known that woman derives much greater pleasure than man under the circumstances thou hast asked.'"

This is very much acknowledged by modern sexologists.

Astronomy

The following verses from the Adi parva of the Mahabharatha closely resembles the Big Bang theory.

"And what is seen in the universe, whether animate or inanimate, of created things, will at the end of the world, and after the expiration of the Yuga, be again confounded. And, at the commencement of other Yugas, all things will be renovated, and, like the various fruits of the earth, succeed each other in the due order of their seasons. Thus continueth perpetually to revolve in the world, without beginning and without end, this wheel which causeth the destruction of all things".

Advanced Vision

Modern science clearly states the limitation of our human eye. The eye has limited size and therefore limited light-gathering power. Opthamologist say that the human eye has limited frequency response and it can only see electromagnetic radiation in the visible wavelengths. So what we see is not what exists but what we will be capable to see. That's why lord Krishna gave special visionary powers (divine eyes) to Arjuna to have a glimpse of his "Vishwaroopa" (exposing his cosmic body).

Modern science enables refractive laser eye surgery, performed by ophthalmologists for correcting myopia, hyperopia etc. Laser energy was introduced in refractive surgeries discovered by Rangaswamy Srinivasan. Srinivasan working at IBM Research Lab discovered that an ultraviolet Excimer laser could etch living tissue in a precise manner with no thermal damage to the surrounding area. Here Laser energy is applied to the eye for reshaping, and the flap is replaced to serve as a type of natural bandage for quicker healing. In Arjun's case too lord Krishna might have used an advanced mode of laser like energy to enable Arjun's
eye to visualize extreme frequencies.

Continuous change of particles in the body.

Please Note, the continuous change of particles in the body was well known to the sages long before. In the modern world it was shown that William Harvey (1578 - 1657) discovered the circulation of the blood.

Mahabharatha provides clear thought about the above.

"The constituent elements of the body, which serve diverse functions in the general economy, undergo change every moment in every creature. Those changes, however, are so minute that they cannot be noticed. The birth of particles, and their death, in each successive condition, cannot be marked, O king, even as one cannot mark the changes in the flame of a burning lamp. When such is the state of the bodies of all creatures, - that is when that which is called the body is changing incessantly even like the rapid locomotion of a steed of good mettle- who then has come whence or not whence, or whose is it or whose is it not or whence does it not arise? What connection does there exist between creatures and their own bodies?"

Botany

Shanthiparva 184.13-14
"The creeper moves above the trunks, covering it all around. There is no path for the one without sight. Hence trees can see. The heat rays of the sun discolours the barks, leaves and flowers of trees. Since they also fade and perish because of heat, trees have the sense of touch. When covered with incense and smoke the trees become disease-free and flower a plenty. Hence they repond to gases".

Shanthiparva 172.12
"By the sound of wind, fire and lightening, the fruit and flower perish. Sound is perceived by the ear, hence the trees hear".

OSMOSIS

Shantiparva 184.16
"As one draws water up with the mouth (by suction) through a lotus stalk, the plant, endowed with air (pressure) drinks with its feet".
"Due to rapid evaporation of water from leaves during transpiration, a tense is created and transmited to the xylem of the roots, causing the water to cross cell wall and rise upwards".

The knowledge of Osmosis in Mahabharath was later discovered by Kramer - 1969 AD.

Conch shell sounds and its science

In Mahabharata, conch shell's had a significant place. Arjuna's shankha was called "Devdutta", Bhima's "Paundra", Yudhisthira's "Anantavijaya", Nakula's "Sughosa" and Sahadeva's was known as "Manipushpaka. Conch shell's significance can also be corroborated by science. If we try holding a shankha near our ear, the sound of the gently humming ocean can be heard. This is actually the natural vibration or cosmic energy of the Earth which gets magnified on entering
the conch shell.

The vibrations from these conch shells can overpower evil forces from the Earth and at the same time also clear environmental pollution including healing the hole in the ozone layer which causes global warming. Blowing a conch shell enhances the positive psychological vibrations such as courage, determination, hope, optimism, willpower, etc. in the blower as well as those around him. That is why a conch shell is blown during sacred rites to get rid of negative energy.

Time dilation techniques

Time dilation is very much evident in Mahabaratha. "Bhishma Pitamaha" of Mahabharata was gifted with a time control to end his life. He served his dynasty for many of his following generations becoz of this.

Einstein through his special theory of relativity gave the concept of time dilation for a body moving comparable with the velocity of light which is said to be constant and same throughout the universe and during relative motion also.

Mystical travels

Mahabharata tells the story of how the Naga princess Ulupi abducted Arjuna while he was bathing in the Ganges River. Ulupi pulled Arjuna down not to the riverbed, as we would expect, but into the kingdom of the "Nagas" (celestial snakelike beings), which exists in another dimension. Mystical travels explains how the worlds of super humans (devas) are connected with our world.

Foot note

The Aliens I had mentioned need not have reasearched like the way we do in our modern world. We should understand one thing. Research and experiments by modern day scientist are continuous search and the resulting invention is just one spark of intuition. When we tune our mind on someting relentlessly (like a radio getting the right frequency) we get the answers from the universal knowledge. All major inventions were done not by inteligence but by intuition. Einstein famously quoted " The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift".

Universal knowledge contains everything, that we have already invented and to be invented. All futuristic knowledge are already present, that is the truth of our upanishads. So instead of reasearching physically in a laboratory rishis went inside them and meditated. Science of Raja yoga says "what you meditate upon, you get" If we go deeper into this subject there is a great science, but not relevant to this topic. The control rooms that I had mentioned earlier is to prove a point that these things are possible even from modern science perspective. If you approach them meta-physically answers become simple.

When I first read the full content of Mahabharatha [English prose translated from the Original Sanskrit Text by Kisari Mohan Ganguli [1883-1896] (My heartiest pranams to him)] It's scientific and technological descriptions were mind-boggling. I strongly believe it to be history and not mythology. There may be some information addition and personal bias involved due to the long period of time involved. Also the epic being transmitted from generation to generation through oral communication for almost 3000 years is bound to suffer from information loss. But still a major portion of it seems to be historical and not fiction for me. It is an history which seems unbelievable for a prejudiced generation which considers itself as most modern and scientific. In fact mahabharatha challenges the western world which takes credit of most of the inventions/discoveries that was long before mentioned in this epic. I strongly believe we haven’t realistically portrayed in our Indian feature films (using latest technology) the various scientific and technical features of this great epic. This epic has got the potential to create hundreds of “Avatar” like Hollywood films.

Again in the words of Albert Einstein’s "Science without religion is lame. Religion without science is blind" which is very much apt to mahabharatha. Mahabharatha is a blend of religion and science. The religion it preaches is "Truth prevails". The essence of life is to find "what is truth" and to live with it. So do anything for the sake of utimate truth and obstaining from acting when required is itself sin. The philosophical content of Mahabharatha is incredible. This great nation is the source of all philosophies that exist in this world. For generations innumerbale number of school of thoughts were presented and debated. Scientific research and development was less prioritized in this sub-continent called "Bharath", it focused more on higher philosophies 'eternal in substance'. As swami Vivekananda famously quoted "Science ends where philosophy starts", the endless search called science (for materialistic goals) was ignored in this part of the world and great philosophical thoughts eternal in value blosomed.

In short "Nobody could stop what the lord wants to give and nobody could give what the lord wants to stop", Lets keep acting for the sake of truth. So by his grace, let more research be done on these great sacred texts and bring to light the great science of our epics and be proud of our great heritage....SARVAM KRISHNARPANAM
